Default little confused

So ive ben playing Tiger poker on-line....and am a little confused about who wins in some situations. Ive seen some inconsistant wins....i think.
If I had A/3 and dude had A/4, and A and K come on the flop (other cards...whatever), who wins? Ive seen it split before, so I thought since the K was higher than dudes 4, that was why. So is it the kicker in ur hand...or the highest card on the table that determines the tie break?

In my experience if you both are holding a pair of kings then the highest card in the players hand which is the kicker determines the winner. So in your situation the King/4 would be the better hand.

If any one disagree's with this statement please feel free to add your comments.

Cheers,

Well the other cards are important. If the pot was split this could also have happened if there was a side pot from someone going all in and then there having a bet placed after that.
