Default SnG strategy

I just wrote a long post with the backstory but it's irrelevant and ultimately not that interesting, so instead I am posting just the hypothetical question.

Heads up at the end of a tourney (it happened to be a SnG). Blinds actually quite low, average stack has 150BB. Villian is major LAG but a decent player whom you've taken money from before, he loves to raise and re-raise, bets most flops. You have a slight lead in your chips, 10 BB's or so. He has re-raised you the last 2 times you raised preflop from the buttton and you folded both times. You have played tight. You are on the button with 44, you raise 3 times the BB. He re-raises the pot. you do what?

I've always been curious what to do when you are playing someone you know you are better than and if you push it is almost certainly a 50/50. If you lose you are crippled. With the blinds this low I know it is usually best to avoid coin flip situations against a inferior player and let your post flop skill do the work. So is this a call and see what the flop brings? a fold?

Folding is probably your best option in this situation, also don't raise too much and look for the high kickers. I read interesting article in this site Texas Holdem - Where To Play Poker go through it and let him bury himself on your solid hands.

I am more inclined to play it out and see the flop. Typically guys like this on low limit tables tend to be bullys. If he figures you have folded before you are more likely to fold again and he takes the pot with your re-raises. Perhaps not the smartest strategy but I know I couldn't help myself and take the chance. Low limit tables tend to cater to less experienced players so I suggest you use your gut instincts and play the game a little more agressive than he, it might just throw him off his game and be way more profitable for you!

If you know you're better than him why put yourself in a situation where it's a coin flip? That gives him the advantage. If you have that many chips just sit back and outplay him hand after hand, no need to push especially with 44.

Yep, LAG's are their own worst enemy. I would have limped with 44 against him and hope to hit a set.

Played against a LAG the other day. I had A-K in BB and he raised from the button as usual. I called. Flop was A-K-x. I checked, he bet the pot, I called. Turn was blank. I checked again, he bet at me again, I called. River was a blank too. I checked again but he had given up now and checked too. He turned over 9-10. He had absolutely nothing but had kindly given me a large chunk of his stack.

I found this is the best way to play against LAG's. Wait until you have a decent hand and let them bet into you. Check calling takes away their 'raise' weapon and gives the impression you are chasing a draw if the flop suggest it.

Of course, they don't always have nothing so it's not foolproof. Even LAG's get hands.

Interestingly you come into the forum and instead of giving some useful advice to our members you resort to name calling. I have played people like you who instead of playing a real game you shoot your mouth off everytime someone makes a play you wouldn't.

We would appreciate some of your insight into playing poker online as this is what we are trying to develop here, however refrain from the name calling.

Cheers,

Deborah
